Krauted Beer Cheese Recipe

Ingredients

1 large yellow onion, diced
1 14-oz can Frank’s Kraut, drained
8 oz your favorite beer*
16 oz processed American cheese product

Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, caramelize onions and kraut by cooking over medium heat with a pinch of salt until golden in color.
  2. Deglaze the pan by adding beer and scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Lower heat to a simmer and cook until liquid has reduced by half.
  3. Stir in cheese until melted and well mixed. Serve with soft pretzels or your favorite vegetables.
  4. *a mild beer, such as wheats or lagers work best; stay away from hoppy beers, such as IPAs, to avoid bitterness
