Frequently Asked Questions
Frank’s Kraut is the #1 brand in the Midwest. Our sauerkraut has been made for over one hundred years and we continue to use the same traditional home-style recipe. For generations, people have been enjoying our quality and taste in their home
We do not work with any Amazon vendors to sell Frank’s Kraut on Amazon.com. We are working to bring a Frank’s Kraut storefront to Amazon for our customers who cannot readily find our product in stores nearby.
Our sauerkraut is a fermented food product. All can and glass packaged kraut goes through a cooking process before being packaged. Our bagged kraut is not heated before being packaged. There aren’t any live, active probiotics in our sauerkraut; however, kraut always has health benefits in any form!
Frank’s Kraut is in most Midwestern retailers. If you want your local grocery to carry Frank’s Kraut, please tell the store manager. You can find a list of retailers that carry Frank’s Kraut here: https://frankskraut.com/find-us/ and many retailers offer online shopping or grocery pick-up options.
Absolutely! Frank’s Kraut is perfect for using in baking. Using Kraut in your batter brings more moisture to the baked food, and a moist cake or cupcake is always a good idea!
Yes!!
Tip 1: Rinse Kraut in cold water and lightly drain it. Some recipes call for simple rinsing but not necessarily draining. Again, the kraut adds moisture to the recipe!
Tip 2: You can leave the Kraut as is straight from the jar, or chop it. If you don’t like to see longer shreds in the finished product, chopping is the way to go, but this is simply a preference.
Fun Fact: Your delicious baked goods will not taste like Sauerkraut! The “sauer” kraut taste is eliminated during the heating process while still leaving the batter with a great amount of moisture!
We suggest that after opening our sauerkraut you store the leftovers in the refrigerator in an air tight container to ensure freshness and flavor with every bite!
Yes! In many parts of the U.S. our products are available via Instacart.com to be delivered to your door from a local retailer.
Our sauerkraut will stay delicious for up to 30 days in the refrigerator after opening, as long as the container is sealed tight.
Our Frank’s Kraut Singles have a four month shelf life. We recommend storing them in the refrigerator to help extend their shelf life.
For the best quality of the product we recommend consuming it before the best buy date. We do not recommend consuming it after that date.
Yes, we are proud to say that our products are gluten-free and made in an allergen-free facility.
Try to use either the tip of a butter knife, a bottle opener or a flat-head screw driver as a tool to give you some leverage to gently pry the seal loose.
Insert the tip of any of these objects under the rim of the jar lid and lever it out. Repeat this by moving around the rim, inserting the tip and applying leverage, repeat this until you hear a small pop. This popping sound will indicate the seal has broken. Once the seal is broken you should be able to open the jar.
You can also try turning the jar upside down and gently tapping the lid of the jar against your counter. Sometimes this releases any suction within the jar and loosens the rim as well.
Another method would be to apply heat. You can do this by holding under hot water, or placing in a bowl of hot water for 30 seconds. You could also use a hair dryer to apply heat to the lid’s seal to loosen this.
Please, use caution because it is a glass jar.
Kroger’s has replaced our SnowFloss Kraut products, in Ohio and Michigan, with our national label: Frank’s Quality Kraut. Both of these brands are made in the same facility, at the same time, and are only labeled after we determine which region or store they will be shipped. Even though their labels are different, it is the exact same sauerkraut.
You can find our kraut juice at select retailers. Some of these retailers include Marc’s, Hy-Vee, Fareway, and select Giant Eagle stores to name a few.
We try to keep our costs as low as possible and priced reasonably every day instead of offering the occasional coupon. We do, however, offer a free cookbook of wonderful kraut recipes if you send us $2 for shipping and your address! Please send your check and address to Frank’s Kraut 802 N Front St, Fremont, OH 43420
