Ingredients
For the Dressing:
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp. sweet pickle relish
2 tsp. ketchup
1 tsp. creamy horseradish
1 tsp. Chile powder
1 tsp. smoked paprika
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 tbsp. finely minced yellow or white onion
2 tbsp. finely minced red bell pepper
1 tsp. lemon juice (apple cider vinegar or white vinegar would also work)
½ tsp. liquid smoke
For the Burgers:
1 lb. ground beef
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. onion powder
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
4-8 slices Swiss cheese
4-8 slices thinly sliced corned beef or pastrami
Dill pickle chips
1 cup Frank’s Sweet & Smoky BBQ Kraut, drained well
4 burger buns
Instructions
- Make the Dressing:
- Add all of the dressing ingredients to a small mixing bowl. Whisk together until everything is well combined. Cover and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Make the Burgers:
- Add the ground beef to a large mixing bowl along with ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Mix just until everything is combined. Form the ground beef into four equal patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium/high heat. Place the burger patties in the hot skillet. Cook until the bottom is browned, about 6 to 8 minutes. Flip the burgers and place 1 to 2 slices of Swiss cheese on the top of each burger patty. Continue to cook until the bottom is browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- When the burger patties are done, transfer to a plate or platter. Add the corned beef slices to the hot skillet that the burgers were in and cook just until warmed through. At this point, you can also add the BBQ kraut to the skillet if you prefer it warmed for the burger.
- Assemble the Burgers:
- Spread a spoonful or so of the Thousand Island dressing on the bottom of each burger bun. Top with a burger patty. Top each patty with 1 to 2 slices of corned beef, followed by a few dill pickle slices and some BBQ kraut. Add another dollop of Thousand Island dressing and the top burger bun. Serve immediately.
- Enjoy!
